So... Memoirs. Memoirs were a thing that, much like Dark Memories, required a ridiculously high amount of work to get. You could get these easily but getting ones that are actually good was another story. Like Artifacts in Genshin Impact, they are able to be equipped and increase your strength and stats. You could grind a ton to get specific stats (as stats are randomized per Memoir), and this would be basically essential for PVP and Subjugation, two game modes which were the only times meta was extremely important as they could give the lucrative Zenith's Brilliance. You can see what the menu for selecting a Memoir dungeon to grind looked like above. All that happened in it was fighting a bunch of enemies for them, and then comes the slog of upgrading them!
Here is the menu for wearing them! You could also equip two secondary weapons, a Companion, and Debris. Debris were yet another way to increase overall power but had no noteworthy lore to mention.
Yeah, it was pretty easy to get way too many Memoirs and have them all be worthless and sitting in your inventory... You would likely just sell bad memoirs for Gold, and then use that to upgrade more Memoirs. They were a pretty good source of extra Gold if you needed it though! Not that you often were lacking in Gold or anything...
Ah, lovely. Stats and values that nobody will ever need to stress about again. You're really lucky to not have had to worry about these, assuming you didn't play the game yourself. If you did, I apologize for bringing back likely very unfun memories.

And of course... upgrading them.
This is what made them so miserable; not only did you need the right four stats, but you also needed to then enhance them fifteen times successfully. Guess what, that success rate drops off a cliff the moment you get closer to Level 15! Yeah, it's not good.
