A cage surrounds me. Walls stop me. My vision is occluded by black. I wander the dark, not knowing the way nor my destination. Only my feelings stand out amidst the inky gloom.

The paralyzing dark melds into my cavernous heart. My perception and senses warp; my emotions lie languid. I am akin to but a husk, but I feel a sense of relief nevertheless.

That day, I break through the mud and see a white flower in bloom. It is far, far too bright, and before I know it, I feel tears rolling down my cheeks at the sight of it reaching toward the light.
