Starting today, I shall record in this diary all the odd happenings I have come
to see and hear.
I am presently in a bizarre ruin called "The Cage" where I find
myself working as a guide. A creature in western attire who calls himself
"Carrier" has thrust this job upon me. I did not ask for it, nor do I
want it.
All those I guide ultimately transform into swords.
"Does this world transform people into swords?" I ask Carrier.
"This is not like any world you know," he replies. "You are neither
sword nor human."

During my time within The Cage, I have frequently seen swords be carried off to
somewhere — the swords which once were human.
"From whence have those blades come?" I ask Carrier. "For what
reason are they kept in The Cage?"
"Those are blades forged by Akorde," he replies proudly. "We
keep people's sins — their history, one could say — via the swords."
When I inquire about Akorde, Carrier panics. "Oh dear, oh gracious. I have
joked too much."
Not long after, Carrier perished. As I stood there in a stupor, a new Carrier
appeared as though nothing had ever happened.

This must be a dream. I remain still in The Cage, leading a man who is the
spitting image of myself. Thus do I wield a sword as well, for I am a criminal,
bearing sins.
The man speaks, "My home was a prison. I escaped and set fire to a village
of folk who worshipped me as the son of god."
I ask, "Did the villagers not give chase when you fled your home?"
He laughs, "I was forever locked within the depths of my dwelling. No
villager knew my face."
Once I finish my guidance, I find a Carrier and ask, "Am I also a
swordbearer?"
He replies, "That man is a different you."
A different me? What could it mean?
